Are some women carriers of HPV even though they’ve never been sexually active?

Is this possible or can you only carry HPV if you’ve been sexually active?

no, you can only get it through sex.

As a general rule: No

In rare instances, an unborn baby is affected when the mother has the condition. It is unclear as to whether this child will test positive later.

No. HPV is considered a sexually transmitted disease.

HPV is a generic term that stands for Human Papilloma Virus. There are many types of this virus that infect humans. HPV causes regular warts on your body as well as the sexually transmitted ‘genital warts’ (which are linked to cervical cancer in women).

You can get the type of HPV that may cause cervical cancer through other means than direct intercourse (oral sex, etc.)
