I’m 20 and I’m thinking about getting the vaccine, but I keep hearing terrible stuff about it.

Researchers looked at records on 9,658 girls and young women in Maryland between the ages of 9 and 26, and found that just 27.3 percent started the three-shot Gardasil process between 2006 and 2010, according to the study presented at a recent meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research.

And just 30.7 percent of them followed through with all three doses.

But can you blame them? The shots offer only limited protection from some of the strains of HPV that cause cervical cancer… and thousands of girls who’ve gotten it have suffered from serious and even permanent nerve damage and other side effects.

And dozens have died after getting vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control has reported that 32 girls died after receiving Gardasil, the so-called cervical cancer vaccine. Eleven of these deaths occurred less than a week after the girls received the shot. Seven occurred in less than two days.
