Can a two year old get STD from a public swimming pool?

by Rachel on June 30, 2011

The child’s mother and father are getting divorced and the father has custody. She is now claiming, (without testing), that her son has gotten STD’s from the public pool because the father’s sister took the child swimming. We have concerns about what goes on with the child when in the mothers care, and we are looking for answers. The child is going in for test, but in the wait, we are trying to find answers because the aunt is just horrified about the accusations. She would never do anything to hurt her nephew.

no the mother needs more education along with most of society. Besides even if someone with HIV/aids was profusely bleeding in the pool, there is so much chemical in the pool it would probably kill it. It takes direct exchanging of bodily fluids to contract the virus and how in the hell could she possibly even know if there hasn’t already been a test. People go for years and have no idea that they have the virus. She is a snide sneaky lady pulling at strings to save herself. Watch out she will pull more crap like this. Best bet hire a private detective and have him come up with something..with proof just in case she pulls some crap!! Good Luck, best of wishes

I very much doubt it. The only STD that I can think of that could possibly be transmitted by use of a public swimming pool would be AIDs. Even then, it seems very unlikely.

I agree with the 1st person, all the chemicals in a public pool, I highly doubt anyone would get an std from going swimming, plus what kind of std does this child have, what are the testing him for? I think there is a problem at home, and it is being put to blame on a public pool, a cover up

no. assuming the pool is treated by either chlorine or UV you can’t get anything from a pool. if its not treated or if it was like a natural pond there is potential to become sick but not STD’s

if your step son has an STD than something is going on and who ever gave it to him will test positive as well. IF he does test postitive than you your husband the aunt and everybody else should get tested to prove it didn’t come from them.
I would be supicious of anyone who refused to get tested that is close.

I believe that the chlorine in the swimming pool kills any bacteria or virus that would cause an STD.

yea..its me June 30, 2011 at 6:22 pm

call Child Protective Services regardless of what you think happened to protect the child and to cover yourself……..The water is treated with cholrine plus STD would transmit during close interaction AND everyone in the pool would have it INCLUDING dear auntie IF that story had any validity……..Something does not ring right and you better find the source or else the parents could be implicated too (PLUS Im sure the hospial has already reported it ….they have to)

sound like the mother has some secrets to me.

I seriously doubt it with all of the chemicals in a pool! if this was the case, 90% of the population would have std’s. The mother may be covering something up or the child may just have a yeast infection or diaper rash or chicken pox..who knows! Good to get the child tested anyway.

This mother is trying to cover up something!! This child is being sexually abused if he has a STD, and I would report this case to CPS immediately, because the mother may just be making threats about having him tested, and not really be doing so!! For his sake, and for the Dad’s(and aunt’s) you guys need to follow up with CPS to make sure this child HAS been both TESTED and TREATED for this!!
Good Luck to this Precious little boy!!

no way unless the child was molested there.
the only thing in the water is pee and chemicals.

No one can not get an STD from a public pool…that’s as ridiculous as getting pregnant from a toilet seat. IF the child has an STD the child got the STD from exactly what the S stands for SEX.
