Can I get HPV from sharing deodorant with someone who has it?

by Rachel on August 20, 2011

I recently used the underarm deodorant stick of someone who has HPV, and then I noticed a small wart in my armpit. I’m wondering if I have HPV…in my armpit…and if it can hurt me at all.
I guess I’m confused because I read that you can get HPV from “skin to skin” contact.

you probably have a skin tag, not a wart, in your armpit. Lots of people do.

No, thats not possible. You would have to have sex with a person who has HPV. That’s why HPV is a SEXUALLY transmitted disease. Skin to skin doesn’t mean shaking hands or sharing deodorant….it refers to sexual acts of skin to skin contact.
Don’t worry about it =)
