so basically this is the first time im finding out about hpv. up till now i didnt even know it existed, i always just tried to watch out for things like herpes, gonorea and other stuff.

so does it or does it not go away on its own?
i know experts think its either completely gone or at such low levels that its undetectable?

Firstly, you can get a set of shots for the four worst strands. Ask your gyno about that.

Secondly, these shots will only prevent four strands. There are 100s out there, so it doesn’t make you completely immune.

HPV is actually hard to prevent, as it is absolutely undetectable in men. However, if you do get HPV, do not WORRY. It is NOT a big deal. The vast majority of HPV strands disappear on their own and do not cause warts or damage. In fact, 1 out of every 2 or 3 sexually active women will get HPV in their lifetime, and most of these women never know about it, as it disappears before their next gyno appointment.

Hope that helps.

Long story short, you can’t do much to prevent it, but if you get it, it’s not a big deal at all and hardly ever does lasting damage.
