Can you catch genital herpies from taking a bath right after the person who has the std just took a shower?

by Rachel on May 4, 2011

My friend recently moved in with me and she just told me she has the std. The thing is I take baths constantly. So I was thinking that if she takes a shower and then i take a bath right after i can catch the std? Is that possible?

…no…herpes simplex virus-1(oral herpes) and virus-2(genital herpes) can only be transmitted from skin to skin contact…herpes virus-2(HSV-2) can only be spread through a mucous membrane coming in contact with an affected area…

…common ways of transmitting the disease are kissing and any form of sex from the skin contact…other ways include touching her in an affected area & getting the virus on your hand & then touching your own body…herpes simplex can affect nearly any part of the body such as the mouth area, genitals, any skin area and is especially serious if it affects the eyes…

…if you use a bath after she has showered be sure the tub is dry…then get a spray antiseptic with alcohol & an antibacterial agent in it…spray the tub & wash it down before you bathe each time…

…if you will live in the same rooms, be sure to wash your hands often…it would be a good idea to ask your roommate to tell you is/when she has an outbreak of the virus…she is more contagious then…
