Yes. You won’t have complete immunity to the types of HPV Gardasil protects against until you’ve had all 3 immunizations. (Remember Gardasil does not protect against all types of HPV, only 4 of them, 2 of which cause 70% of cervical cancer cases.)
It’s also important to also follow the schedule they told you – at 0 months, 2 months, and 6 months. If it’s too long in between the doses, you’ll have to start the series again.
I would say yes it is possible as you haven’t completed the immunization schedule.

Safe sex is the best way to prevent getting an STD including HPV.
HPV like Herpes can still be transmitted when exchanging bodily fluids with your without protection.
