can you test positive and then negative for HPV?

by Rachel on July 19, 2011

One of the teens in my youth group asked me this question and I can’t answer it. Apparently, she tested positive for HPV, several strains including those that are high risk for cervical cancer. Several months to one year later, she was retested and the test was negative. She asked it that means she no longer has the virus or was the initial test inaccurate. I don’t know and could use some guidance.
