How do you know you didn’t get it from him?

That’s a very valid point.

You may have gotten this from him and he got it from someone prior to being with you. It even tells you on the following website that most people do not know that they have HPV.
Usually the surgery is a laser type surgery and yes it is uncomfortable but the discomfort is much better to put up with than the pain you are experiencing. Talk to your physician regarding all possibilities.
After surgery, please use safe sex. It is very important. And if you stay with “your man” he must be treated too or you will get it back. Good luck

Just to add also from the previous answer. If he tries to tell you that it couldnt have been him because hes never seen anything on his penis then thats false. A guy can be a carrier of HPV but not have a visible symptom. HPV causes the cells on the skin to mutate (which is why you can get cancer), sometimes it appears in the form of a wart but sometimes you cant see them at all. HPV does not show up in blood tests so its virtually impossible for a guy to find out if he has it or not if theres no wart. Also its pretty much impossible to determine who gave it to who because symptoms may not appear for weeks to months after you initially got infected with the virus. Tell your man all this and if he doesnt believe it tell him to talk to a doctor who will tell him the same thing…..By the way i have gotten the surgery for HPV and the first thing you have to get is called a colposcopy where they have to cut out a tiny sliver from the area that has abnormal results to test to make sure it is positive for HPV and not something else, my sister said this hurt her (feels like pinching) but for me there was no pain just discomfort. When the results come back positive is when you get the treatment. I had some sort of laser therapy and once again my sister said it was slightly more painful than the colposcopy but i thought it was just uncomfortable. The feeling will vary from person to person depending on how sensitive you are but i thought it felt like a sharp pencil was just slightly jabbing my cervix, uncomfortable but not that painful. hope this helps. I too have HPV so you can e-mail me if you have any more questions. I researched it a lot

Unfortunately this can be an emotional time. I show no signs and was only informed when a friend called me in tears that she had found a wart. Since it can lay dormant for so long and some people (typically men) show no signs, its hard to say where it came from. I don’t blame her, because I don’t if I got it from her or even gave it.

There is no point in trying to lay blame now. Just rethink your life plan a little. Many people have this. I think your ex is just angry about what this will do to his future sex life. It’s made me more cynical than angry. I now fear rejection for what I have and not for who I am. I do have an obligation now to tell.

Almost everyone who is sexually active has HPV! YOu cant tell who gave it to who. The surgery will not hurt, you may be a little crampy, like menstrual cramps after, but that should be about it. You do not have to convince your ex of anything, at least you were honest and told him about it. Just tell him that he can get information about it from the health department, and to stop blaming you. That is not what you need at a time when you are scared yourself!

Hpv caused by Genital warts can be transmitted through skin to skin contact . So it’s possible for you to get genital warts without penetration. It is also possible for you to have genital warts and never know it so you could have picked that up from him or anyone else. He is not using good common sense right now because if you knew you had it before the 2 of you had sex why would you tell him you have it now. If that was the case you could have allowed him to remain in the dark about it. In doing that you could be prosecuted for know ling passing a contagion. The same thing happen to my sister . He waited and only told her when they were moving in together. He only told her then because he thought she would find his medication. He had herpes and genital warts. He also let her know that he had it for years. the relationship they had did not last, She felt she could not trust him I begged my sister to prosecute she did not My sister is in hospice now dying from cervical cancer. It’s hard for us to watch this strong productive woman wither to nothing as cancer eats away at her body. Take care of yourself and your sex partners
