I had cervical cancer, had surgery, and I still have HPV. I go for biopsies every 3 months. Luckily the biopsies have all been negative, but the HPV tests are positive every time. It SUCKS.
My doctor tells me that some women remain HPV positive forever, but a lot of women eventually become immune to it. It just live in you and does nothing. This is why she doesn’t recommend HPV testing. She says it’s great if you are negative, but if you are still positive it could drive you crazy!
I still get the HPV test anyway. I want to know.
Good luck, and just please know that HPV does NOT mean you will have a recurrence.
