How long to wait before getting a STD test?

If you had unprotected sex, how long should you wait before getting a STD test? I know that there’s an incubation period so getting tested right away might give a false negative.

The incubation period is about 3 – 6 months but some stds can be detected earlier. Its best to stop having sexually intercourse of any kind an masturbation if you think you have come in contact with any std. So you stop the spread of it and don’t infect anyone Else. Also keep a record of any symptoms are changes you notice so you can inform your doctor of them when you get tested. Remember the best sex is safe sex!! Good Luck Gurlie!!

it depends if STD!
get tested after 1 week, then after 1 month, and then after 6 months because HIV has 6 month incubation period!

Urine tests for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are accurate 2 weeks after exposure.
Blood testing for Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV are accurate 3 months after exposure.
You should be tested again at 6 months for HIV.
