How much will it cost to get tested for std?

by Rachel on May 9, 2011

I don’t have insurance and I want to go to Planned Parenthood to get tested for some STD’s and also get on birth control, i heard that you need to have a regular medical exam before they can put you on any birth control. So since I’m going to have to pay out of pocket, how much should i expect to pay for std tests, medical exam and birth control. Any help would be great, preferably someone who has gone to Planned Parenthood without insurance. Thanks

You can get it free at planned parenthood.

My friend got on birth control and it was free. All you have to do is choose between pap smear/vaginal exam or to have a consultation. If you want it to be free, you have to claim to have no insurance or a doctor.

It’s free from planned parenthood and other free clinics.

I would like to suggest you get as much information as you could before taking action, here http://www.insuranceidea.info/free-insurance.htm is a good place for that.

Your local county health department should do free STD testing. However, the Herpes blood test usually costs about $150 through labcorps. They can only to a culture of a Herpes sore for free at the health department. Otherwise, Herpes and HPV testing are NOT included in “complete” STD screenings.
