HPV is and STD that is spread through sexual activity. Women are not the only concern, but it is the only group that has been tested and approved for the gardisil vaccine. Gardisil can prevent you from being infected with 4 strains of HPV (there are over 100). 2 are the most common cause of cervical cancer (why it is so important for women) and 2 cause large warts that cause a lot of problems. If you are having sex with your bf and you both are just with each other-you can only get it from him if he got it from someone else; it won’t develop from nothing. You can talk to your doctor about getting the shot-most insurance companies will cover it if you are in the approved age group (9-25yrs). Even if you are already infected with 1 of the strains-it will probably still be good to protect against the other strains.
HPV is not an std for the simple reason it passes from skin to skin contact not sexual intercourse only. men do not have a test available to determine if they have it nor does it harm them in any way. HPV virus does not cause cervical cancer but rather an on going infection generally due to low immune health. DO NOT GET THE VACCINE IF YOU ALREADY HAVE HPV!!!! you will increase the risk of cancer by 44.6% heres the truth about HPV with a 68 page document from the FDAhttp://redpillreich.blogspot.com/2008/02…http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dockets…
