There is a great chance it could become cancerous if youve had it a while and didnt know it. They do a biopsy of your cervix and put it under a scope. Its a minor outpatient surgery. I dont know if it is contagious though….
There is a shot that can prevent you from contracting this. It is called Guardisil. Ask your doc..

I have HPV but not high risk…when you have to get a biopsy it’s to check if you have displasia and if so to have it removed through a leep procedure.
Make sure you go to youre doctor and follow up with this. The biopsy is uncomfortable but, tolerable.

Yes you tell the person you are with, though you’re partner will not show signs of it , he is now a carrier. He needs to keep his anual check ups as well because it can cause penile cancer in men.

Please go to WebMD for more info or http://www.healthandhpv.com
please educate youreself on the virus.

HPV is a virus and most of the time you’re body fights it. You’re immune system of course. Just keep healthy and yes you have to tell youre partner. =)

i think that you have to get a colscopy and they look inside of you. they have to remove the HPV. I think you have to get ur pap smears more often too

I believe the test you are talking about is a COLPOSCOPY.

You get in the stirups ust like a regular gyno visit, but this time they open your vagina, rub some vingear substance on you cervix to have the abnormal cells show up…then they take a teenie tiny pair of pinchers and pinch the abnormal cells off to test. Sometimes they get all of them, however that is not the point of the test…they take samples (8 or 9) from your cervix to test.

I have to admit…it hurt me. It felt like REALLY intense period cramps…literally. So, if you suffer from those, then it should be a breeze!!
