Call an ob-gyn office. Or…the county Health Dep’t.

The vaccine is labeled for women and males to age 26.

The vaccine prevents 4 genital HPV types 6, 11,16 and 18. It can’t prevent HPV types you may have already been exposed to. Your new man has HPV but there is no way to know 100% what HPV type or types he carries. Many men and women carry more than one HPV type. He may have only been diagnosed due to the visual signs of low risk HPV types…but sometimes a person with visual warts also carry a co-infection with high risk HPV types.

There is no way to know if you have been exposed to one of the HPV types by a previous sex partner. If you have engaged in sex with anyone you may have already acquired an HPV type.
When you call private physicians be sure to tell them that you are aware that the vaccine is recommended up to age 26 and you are willing to pay the full price of the vaccine up front…your insurance may cover the office charge that will occur. Paying for the 3 injections up front may make a difference…call GP and GYN offices.
