Jazmin, you cannot get HPV from cervical cancer. You can get cervical cancer from SOME kinds of HPV. Other kinds of HPV give you warts. HPV does not necessarily have symptoms you can see, especially in males. HPV is the most common STD with about 50% of sexually active females having it. What makes you think you have HPV? If you do, and you have only had sexual contact (not just sexual intercourse) with your husband, then it could have only come from him…and given his history, I would not be surprised. Schedule an appointment with your doctor. If you have no physical symptoms, you could have the HPV strains that MAY (not “do”) cause cervical cancer and early detection makes a HUGE difference.
HPV is acquired through sex. Men often carry the virus with no signs of genital warts or any skin infection.
If this guy is the only person you have had sex with….then I would think he is the person you acquire your infection from. If you have engaged in sex or sex play with any one else…then it is often difficult to know where you acquired your virus…it can take several years for abnormal cell to occur….at the present you and your husband share your HPV infection…even if he has no skin infection or warts.
It is often a good idea for the male to have a good visual of his penis…just to make sure they are not small warts that are all most impossible to see with the eye.
There is no FDA DNA HPV test for the male.
