Question about spreading warts?

by Rachel on April 14, 2011

Can you spread the HPV (human papilloma virus) strains that cause common warts and plantar warts through sex, like you can with genital warts?
I’m not talking about spreading genital warts through sexual contact: we all know that already.

What I’m asking is can you spread NORMAL warts through sexual contact, the type you get on your hands or feet?

I guess this serves me right for asking a scientific question on Yahoo answers.

um genital warts are HPV. and yes they can spread that way. usually skin to skin contact is how it is spread, but planters warts are usually found in the locker room and spread by walking around bare footed.

Warts are contagious growths that are found on the skin or mucus membranes. Viruses that cause warts are called human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are passed from person to person, sometimes indirectly. The time from the first contact to the time the warts have grown large enough to be seen is often several months. The risk of catching hand, foot, or flat warts from another person is small.
Yeah warts can easily spread through sexual contact.
Genital warts is a highly contagious sexually transmitted infection caused by some sub-types of human papillomavirus (HPV). It is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner. Genital warts are the most easily recognized sign of genital HPV infection.
