Four years ago, my gyno saw a cluster of white raised dots on my cervix. She said that it’s HPV and recommended that I have them removed. So I did. I had followup paps and the doctor said that everything looked good. Since then, I’ve had a pap each year for the past 3 years and the results were all normal. And I’ll continue to get annual paps. I am currently not sexually active. I’ve heard that is possible for HPV to clear up on its own. Is this true?

Yes, most people will clear it out of their systems.
Stay healthy, eat right, exercise, less stress, etc…. Boost your immune system.
No it is not. You have to have them removed. Good thing your doctor caught it early. A friend of mine’s girlfriend had to remove a piece of her cervice because her HPV was more serious. One of my really really good friends had HPV and had to get tested every three months to see if it developed into cancer.
The virus itself doesn’t go anywhere, but yes the infection can clear up on it’s own. when the lessions are found, the doctor will monitor whether or not it’s continuing to grow or if it stablizes. and they do a cyposopy (sp?) every 3 months to check. most times it does go away on it’s own. or it does get bigger the doctor will recommend that the lessions get lasered off. Usually when it gets lasered off you are clear of the lessions and return back to your yearly pap smear.
chances are it won’t reappear, but the doctor’s always check anyway. which is why we are always supposed to go to each check up.
