This is the TRS-to-XLR balanced cable you need for your Taylor Expressions System guitar.

The ES will still work with any standard unbalanced 1/4-inch guitar cord, but it will perform best with a balanced Tip-Ring-Sleeve (TRS) connection into the guitar and an XLR (male) running from the guitar into an amplifier, mixing console or balanced input. Using this cable, you DO NOT NEED TO USE A DIRECT BOX when connecting to a mixing console.

When it is not acting up, it is great to have a noise-free high-quality connection without a direct box.

I have had one of these for many years. I do not abuse it, nor even use it more than a few times a month. Yet the thing developed an intermittent connection problem at the point of entry to the guitar. Every once in a while, if I moved it a little, it would drop out. Furthermore, you CANNOT disassemble the plug to re-solder it. Nonetheless, because I am a lazy optimist, I bought a second one just now (Jan 2010). Hopefully, this will not develop a problem.

You can get a 21-foot version of this cable directly from Taylor. However, it costs a lot more, and there is no guarantee the quality of the 21-foot model is any better than this 15-foot model.
